Top 5 Business Mergers in Technology Field


On 19th Februray 2014, Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook acquires US based mobile messaging firm Whatsapp for a jaw dropping $19 billion. Each of the 55 team members of Whatsapp were valued at $344 million. It is funny that once upon a time Mark Zuckerberg led Facebook rejected Whatsapp founders Jan Koum & Brian Acton for jobs.

 

On 18th September 2014, German software giant SAP acquires Seattle based US software company Concur Tech for $8.3 billion. $129 was paid by SAP for each share of Concur. This was the latest big deal by SAP, which agreed to buy Ariba, which is a business-to-business marketplace, for $4.3 billion in the year 2012. 
 

 
On 16th June 2014, Broomfield based, US internet traffic router Level 3 Communication bought Douglas County based American biz telecom solution TW Telecom for $5.3 billion.



 

On 23rd June Software giant oracle acquires American hospitality software company MICROS system. The deal is valued at a net of $4.6 billion net of MICRO’S cash.


 





On 29th September PE Vista Equity Partners bought Tibco Software paying $24 per share. Tibco software provides B2B infra software support. The deal closed for an eye catching amount of $4.3 billion.
